This year has been all about birds for me. Thanks to the Merlin and iNaturalist apps that have made it easy to hear and identify birds on the fly (and in the field), I started to really take notice of the birds around us. I was able to spot a number of less-commonly seen warblers and raptors with my telephoto lens, as well as discover that birding is easier than I thought – all you need is a little patience and curiosity. The calendar includes several birds that I had the pleasure of spotting for the first time. Each month’s bird includes the story behind the photo and/or some cool facts about it.
